I love this book--it is a wonderful journey of one man's path to his truth and purpose. Ms. Schroder puts forth a literary experience that is completely unbiased, unprejudiced, and unjudgemental with regard to religion, while showing a universal sense of spirituality that applies to all of us. A book that brings everyone together without casting stones, or casting out. What a novel idea, this truth. I look forward to seeing this journey on film and I look forward to her next novel.

Most of us are just scratching the surface and going through the motions in our daily lives. We don't stop to think about deeper and more meaningful issues. Do we each have a purpose in life? If yes, what is it?
Many of us live our lives without considering how our lifestyle affects the environment and those around us. But can we afford to continually live this way? What are the repercussions?
The author takes us on a journey of Lou van Helden's quest to find the meaning of his life. As I follow Lou on his personal journey, I can't help but embark on a parallel one to discover things about myself and reassess the way I live my life.
Not only is the novel a delight to read, it is also educational and enlightening. It asks probing spiritual and environmental questions that everyone can relate to and are interested in. It also cleverly educates the reader on the various spiritual disciplines out there by weaving them into the story and presenting it in a highly entertaining way without an ounce of bias and without sounding pushy or preachy.
If there's a novel worth picking up today, it is Sacred Wisdom.

Schroder has given us an archtype to aspire to in relationships and our lives. A lively book in the vein of "The Celestine Prophecy." Teaching while telling a wonderful story. I feel many of us can relate to Lou van Helden and Anya. With this book we can use them as reference points to decide how we REALLY want to live our lives. One of those books you don't want to put down until you're done.
Read this Book!

The old adage "You can't tell a book by its cover" does not apply here. This book is as beautiful and inspirational on the inside as are the Iguaçu Falls pictured on the outside. The story guides one man's spirit back to its original purpose--which is easily lost in the hectic workaday lives most people live these days. I recommend you pick up this book, take and deep breath and travel with Lou to a most beautiful place in the world, and discover your own Sacred Wisdom.
Thought-provoking read, will expand your horizons!

Like many of us, Lou van Helden is caught up in the grind of a busy job that eats up his time but leaves him feeling unfulfilled. Mystical experiences and curious dreams cause him to change his focus from his own day-to-day struggles as an attorney to some of the major issues facing the world today. As Lou expands his spiritual self, he begins to develop an inner peace and discovers true love. He also begins to rekindle close relationships with family and friends that he previously had neglected.
We all can learn from Lou's journey and his interactions with memorable characters that provide him with thought-provoking advice on spirituality and lead him down the path to finding a true purpose and meaning in his life.
So Many Things I Believe In

I was very anxious to begin reading Sacred Wisdom but could only begin it on Friday and continue on Sunday. Finished it at 11:30pm, and I was so thrilled thinking about it, I couldn’t sleep. It touched me so close.
I was terrifically impressed with three details in the book: The rainbow (which assures my communion with the Lord every time I see one), the blue butterfly (which I love most and always have the feeling something good will happen), and the daisies Lou gives Anya.
Regarding Mother Earth’s current mistreat – Cities in Brazil have Cooperatives who hire unemployed, poorer people to collect recyclable material. My husband and I share a car with natural gas, besides not polluting, gas is cheaper. Unfortunately we can’t stop greedy people all over the world from cutting down our precious trees. I will not give up trying.
I was extremely fascinated by the book for the way it conveys the story . . . dreams. I, too, had answers to serious doubts through dreams. Reading the book, conveying such honest, inspiring information through dreams, made me think perhaps you have also had experiences of the kind.
I really appreciated you telling people about São Paulo, its positive and negative sides, like any other big city in the world, specially now when Brazil is being so negatively exposed with the film “Tourists.”
Thank you also for divulging the picture of Iguaçu Falls. It’s simply sensational!!!!!! If you ever think of publishing the book for Brazil, I will gladly translate it for you. How’s that!!!!!!!
Thank you for existing, for being so kind and courageous to make known such precious information. Fique com Deus.
A beautiful & thought provoking story

I found "Sacred Wisdom: A Mystical Journey Exploring the Purpose of Life" to be a wonderful parable about one man's journey on the spiritual path. The author, Helga Schroder, accomplishes a lot with this novel. First, it's a great story. Second, it is educational. Third, you review your own spiritual progress. Lastly, she makes a wonderful comparison between all the religions by outlining their underlying similarities.
Thirty-year-old Southern Californian Lou van Heldon finds that he is having constant headaches and consults a physician for help. The physician quickly uncovers that he is overtired by his life as a busy corporate attorney and a bad breakup with his girlfriend Sheila. Lou realizes that he needs to take up running and exercise again and goes out for his first run in three months. He goes to one of his favorite spots and runs to the top of the hill. Surprised to find a house up there and someone urgently calling his name, he goes in. His life will never be the same after this.
Lou's first meeting with his spiritual guides during his run lead him to ask off for some time from work and he decides to go see his Uncle Ray, a priest in Brazil. Once there, he and his uncle go sightseeing at the beautiful Iguacu waterfalls. His dreams continue on this journey and he spends a lot of time with Uncle Ray discussing spirituality. I love the descriptions of spirituality made by Uncle Ray. "The human body also primarily consists of water... just like a rainbow. So when you carry the Light of Christ within, you are luminescent - just like a rainbow. I like to think that rainbows remind us of who we really are.”
When Lou returns from Brazil, he has a different attitude about life. He realizes that he has lost his connection with the environment and animals that he had as a child in his native born Holland. To change this, he begins to approach work differently; he takes up the study of Buddhism, and meets a completely different kind of girl. All the while he is trying to find the meanings of his life mission that his spiritual guides referred to.
"Sacred Wisdom" will really help you to look at your life and start asking the important questions such as "What is my life mission?" and "Am I doing my part in society to protect the planet and serve mankind?" The author does a wonderful job of integrating all religions and thoughts so even the more fundamental religion followers would enjoy the book. I highly recommend it to people interested in, or on, the spiritual path.

Helga Schroder, born and raised in Germany, is a graduate in Applied Linguistics. She is currently living in California where she is a Fulbright Scholar. Sacred Wisdom is a story about Lou, the main character, who tries to find inner peace and a purpose in life.
His journey into the spiritual world is adventurous and amazing bringing him a slow transformation of his soul as well as the love he is looking for. It is a positive novel that inspires and encourages people to start looking for their own inner peace and purpose in life.
The story is written in the first person and reads as a personal account. It is direct and vivid, truthful and fast- paced. It is a gripping story that inspires and entertains at the same time. It emits positive thinking and urges readers to discover themselves and work towards their ideals. Helga tries to connect Christian religion to Buddhism by interpreting some Buddhism elements of faith into Christian ones. Thus, this story is a link between different cultures and religious beliefs, though it eventually focuses on Buddhism, which is evident that the author is in favor of.
The part about negative thinking on page 246 is quite interesting, as well as the part of the Lama teaching about death issues.
The main concern of the author is the planet and the conservation of the eco system. She believes that each person should do something about our planet as the destruction is imminent. The whole story swirls around this issue and it certainly serves its purpose.
The story is enlightening, yet entertaining and interesting. It involves vivid imagery, ‘real’ characters and some fantasy aspects such as visions of the spiritual world. The main character sees visions that eventually lead him to find the purpose in life: to fight for the planet.
The author uses clear language, at times colloquial-an interesting aspect of the book too. Readers learn about Sao Paolo in Brazil and read a lot of geographical facts and cultural aspects of the place.
It is also interesting to read the meditation techniques Lou is practicing in order to get inner peace and relax.
Undoubtedly the readers will learn a lot from this novel since it has got a lot of aspects found in non fiction books. Sacred Wisdom caters to all readers who have inquisitive minds and it is worth reading. Get the book from www.sukapress.com.

Lou van Helden is living his life according to the American dream. He has a good-paying job, a nice home, and he's searching for a beautiful wife to make it all complete. To his way of thinking, money can buy everything, and he wants as many of the good things as he can afford.
Then one day, while he's out taking a jog, he comes to a mysterious house in the woods and meets the Novemvirat, a group who tell him that he's a Knight of the First Order and he has an important mission in life. Lou is intrigued by their message, and is determined to find out what he needs to do to fulfill that mission.
His journey takes him to Brazil, where he visits with his Uncle Ray, a Catholic priest, who shares his experiences in living a simple and spiritual life. Then when Lou returns to the United States, he studies meditation with a Buddhist Lama. He also meets a wonderful woman who shares his vision of living a more spiritual life.
Lou's journey is not unlike the one many of us take at some point in our lives. We grow tired of material things, and instinctively know there has to be something more - something that really matters.
As Lou makes his discoveries about what's important to him, he inspires us to also search for and find that for ourselves. If we look within and learn to connect with our own spirituality, we can also find a path that brings us true joy.

Ms. Schroder has given us all a special gift with Sacred Wisdom. Not only does she explore different religions, but we get to explore beautiful parts of our planet. And this leads us to the heart of the book...balancing man with planet and man with himself. Our young lawyer protagonist needs a change in his life and Ms. Schroder takes us along for a ride and it is done in such a way that slowly one is examing their own life, spirituality and touch with the earth. There is a positive message to the book that everyone will feel. Enjoy.
