| Biography Born and raised in a small town in Western Germany, Ms. Schroder learned about discipline and the German work ethic at an early age. Chores at home started at age four and when she desired to have a bike, she worked in a metal factory for several weeks during summer vacation when she was merely fifteen years old. Together with her family, she took many trips to Holland where her grandmother had been raised on a farm. During these trips, she fell in love with the ocean and seaside resorts and it is no wonder that her adult life would eventually lead her to live in just such a setting in Orange County, California. With the help of a Fulbright scholarship, Ms. Schroder obtained a degree in Spanish from San Diego State University, California. She completed her studies at the Universitἅt Heidelberg in Germany where she received an advanced degree in Applied Linguistics. Having been raised in Europe, Ms. Schroder grew up speaking several languages and enjoyed mingling with people from different backgrounds. European travels began at age three and with it came exposure to a variety of different languages, peoples and places. Visiting European countries from England in the North to Spain in the South, Holland and Italy remained as the most memorable. In South America, Brazil was at the top of her list and in the United States, the beauty of Hawaii stood out the most. When Ms. Schroder decided to emigrant to the United States, namely Southern California, she worked as a translator for a short time, then joined the corporate legal field. While this work offered a variety of new discoveries on how to buy and sell companies or form and merge corporations, Ms. Schroder fanned out to explore other fields of interest in her spare time. She was drawn, among other things, to the integrative healthcare field and studied a number of alternative therapy approaches. She delved into meditation and Eastern philosophy, examined various religions, and made friends with people of different ages, colors and creeds. Her passions and interests are reflected in her novel Sacred Wisdom – a Mystical Journey Exploring the Purpose of Life. As in her real life, the hero of her book was born in Europe but lives in America. He, too, works in the corporate legal field but is urged, by fate, to explore more meaningful interests and goals. His travels to Brazil provide some insights as does his study of religious viewpoints. The book covers topics ranging from environmental protection to the plight of the elderly, the challenges of our youth and our responsibility for individual personal involvement – all wrapped in a mystical plot that hints at resources and guidance from a higher dimension. While this is Ms. Schroder’s first published novel, we are certain that there are more stories in her multi-cultural experience waiting to be told.
